The Christian & Missionary Alliance
was founded just over 100 years ago as a missions agency. Today, those who
work cross-culturally to share the good news of Christ remains a priority
for the denomination we are a part of (Alliance) and our church. The
global focus for missions outreach in recent years has been the 10-40
window or those who haven't heard about Jesus Christ for the first time.
As a result many of the new fields that have been a focus are in: Africa
and Asia (where the major religions have been Muslim, Buddhism and
Hinduism).
We support our missionaries by giving
to the Global Advance Fund, which distributes the resources to the
different missionaries. Right now the Alliance has nearly 260 Canadian
missionaries belonging to a team of 1,100 C&MA serving in 45 countries of
the world. We also raise money for things like the Outfit Fund, which
contributes to the personal needs of missionaries such as clothing,
medications, furniture, appliances, etc. within our district.
The Canadian Pacific District of the
Christian & Missionary Alliance has divided up our district so that each
"cluster" has in it missionaries that have their "home base" in our
cluster. Our missionaries include:
Lisa Rohrick
After graduating from high school,
Lisa attended Canadian Bible College, then completed a B.Sc. in
biochemistry at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. That was followed
by 6 months of travel which confirmed her call to missions. She then
enrolled at Canadian Theological Seminary where she completed her
educational requirements for missions. Lisa then spent the next 3 years in
Pennsylvania doing her home service which consisted of working full time
at Christian Publications in Camp Hill. During this time Lisa wrote 2
books, the first one; Both Feet On God's Path (the story of Julie Fehr,
missionary to Gabon, Africa) and Any Road, Any Cost, which chronicles the
stories of Alliance missionaries caught in civil wars in Congo and
Cambodia. Lisa was then appointed to Benin, Africa as a career missionary
with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. She spent 1 year studying French
at Laval University and is now in Niger, Africa ministering to the Fulani
people.
Short Term Missions Our Church
